Salvaged, Collaborative, Recyclable Alt. Products

Our first step in Rethinking Consumption
Salvaged
We try to source salvaged materials for all our products. We try to aviod new materials (except electrical equipment and materials for hanging or standing). Should our waste streams (our material sources) run out you own a limited edition product. When we do need to use new materials we make our best attempt to use recycled and or FSC certified products.

Collaborative
Most of our products are conceived, developed and work-shopped in a collaborative process. We believe design is better when it's a communal effort.

You are encouraged to finish or personalize your purchase. Take it further, add to it as you like and send us pictures!
We'd be thrilled to see what you have done and we'd love to post some images on the website.

Recyclable
Most of our products can be recycled after your done with them. Simply check the packaging notes or instructions on recycling opportunities. All the scraps of our SCRAPs get made into swag, company materials or are recycled giving us low overall waste.

Why did we start with lamps?
The simple answer is light. The human connection to light has a profound and ancient history. Light evokes a connection to, and role in, nature. The patterns of light and dark pervade our instincts and cultures, our myths and modernity. We couldn’t think of a more fun, enticing, collaborative and accessible product to launch our SCRAP lines with.

We are committed and excited to design new products based on different salvaged materials we happen upon so stay tuned for new product series in the future!

Our inaugural SCRAP product is the Zara Lamp series™. Our SCRAP 1.0 philosophy is just the beginning. We are hard at work developing SCRAP 2.0. Stay tuned for updates!
