A couple of cross country ski enthusiasts and entrepreneurs commissioned us to do a first round design and prototyping on a commemorative plaque for an annual ski race.
Landscape, topography, endurance, accomplishment and celebration are a few of the atributes that encompass the experience this commemorative plaque represents.

Three distinct designs were generated to explore different expressions of the elements of this race as well as ways one might display this memorabilia.
For this project:
• All materials were reclaimed/ salvaged mat board and plywood.

Two distinct features of the landscape popped out as this project began. The first was already deeply engrossed in the race, merchandise and lore - the elevation. The second was the route in plan. These two elements served as literal descriptors of the experience.
Eventually to be fashioned out of wood indigenous to the area of the race this project was intended as a first stab at some of the possibilities for form and expression.
